How would you sell yourself in job market?

When you write an unsolicited application, the recipient is often unaware of the need to hire one with your competencies. Therefore, you must quickly ensure that the recipient becomes interested in your profile. AIDA is a communication model that easily and fluently can bring attention - and hopefully lead to a recruitment.

If you were an item - how would you sell yourself?

When you write an unsolicited application, the recipient is often unaware of the need to hire one with your competencies. Therefore, you must quickly ensure that the recipient becomes interested in your profile. AIDA is a communication model that easily and fluently can attract attention - and hopefully lead to a recruitment.

What does AIDA mean?

Simply simple, the AIDA model consists of four elements:

A = Attention
I = Interest
D = Buying List
A = Action

Originally, the model is used for marketing and communication, but the thinking behind it can also be used to strengthen your application or pitch to a potential employer.

How to use AIDA:

The application is divided into four different interdependent sections. You can start by making the division clear as you write, and later let the sections flow more together.

Attention

The headline is the first one the recipient looks at your application - and it will catch the attention of the recipient and give the appetite more! The heading may very much refer to the job you are looking for, or the function you want to occupy.

The heading shows if you understand the culture of the company - Is it for example. Serious, healthy or provocative? You must - in one sentence - show what you can contribute. For example, a heading may look like "I can increase sales by 20%", "I give your word the power of social media" or "New employee - new opportunities".

Interest

You have now caught the attention of the recipient and must start creating interest for you and your profile. As a starting point, the recipient at this time primarily has an interest in the company and its commercial needs.

Your challenge is therefore to explain what features you have and how these can enhance your business. Here you can use the values that the company itself contains and demands.

Desire

Now you have drawn the company's attention to who you are and what skills you have. Now, you have to tell what you are going to do in relation to the tasks that the business has in concrete terms - if you are based on a job advertisement, use the company's own words. Also tell you how you intend to lift the assignment in practice.

A good basic model to work with can be: [X + Y = Z]
X = Training Y = Experience Z = Result

For example: "With education as a cand.ling.merc. I have experience in contacting for sale [X] and can, with my experience as a seller in Supersalg A / S [Y], increase sales with expected 20% [Z] "

Action

This part of the application can take place in two ways:
The pending: You write your contact information and invite the company to contact you for a chat.
The outreach: You write your contact information on application, but please note that you will take (telephone / personal) contact to the company.
